MITSUBISHI RALLIART SECURES BACK-TO-BACK AXCR CHAMPIONSHIPS WITH TRITON (2025–2026)

Thailand, August 15, 2026 – Team Mitsubishi Ralliart won the overall championship at the Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) for the 2nd consecutive year, marking its 3rd victory at this prestigious rally over 6 grueling stages with a total journey of more than 2,100 km.

Mitsubishi Ralliart wins the AXCR Championship for 2 consecutive years

The three Triton vehicles used in the competition were developed based on the chassis structure, powertrain, and engine of the commercial production model. With comprehensive preparation, the AXCR 2026 championship title is the result of the entire team’s efforts, ranging from seamless coordination and tactical racing to strategic upgrades on all three Tritons.

Legs 1–3: Courage to overcome storms and mud, rising to the lead in Nakhon Sawan

Right from the first two legs from Pattaya to Nakhon Sawan, teams had to face heavy rain, deep mud, and over 267 km of slippery roads. Adversity struck in Leg 2 when one vehicle in the Mitsubishi Ralliart team encountered an issue just 700 meters after the start. However, the drivers’ experience combined with the powerful acceleration of the Mitsubishi Triton helped the entire team quickly close in on the lead pack.

Leg 1: Flooded and muddy section spanning over 200 km from Pattaya to Prachinburi

Leg 2: Tall paddy fields restricting visibility

Leg 3 in Nakhon Sawan brought drivers onto dirt roads through forests with a series of sharp turns, demanding high handling capability and decisive driving. Team Mitsubishi Ralliart persistently pursued its objective. When the opportunity arose, Triton car number 106 immediately accelerated, surged ahead to finish first, and took the lead in the overall standings after 3 legs.

Legs 4–6: Maintaining the lead position, Mitsubishi Ralliart advances straight to the championship

Under scorching heat and roads riddled with deep potholes, car number 101 collided with a tree branch during Legs 4 and 5, causing the windshield to crack. Despite these brutal obstacles, driver Katsuhiko Taguchi held the steering wheel firm, maintained a stable speed, and executed precise cornering to preserve the No. 1 position on the overall leaderboard before entering the final deciding battle.

Legs 4–5: A combination of open roads and paddy fields under scorching weather

Leg 6 of AXCR 2026 had the shortest distance and served as the decisive stage of the rally. With decisive driving and the formidable power of the Triton, driver Taguchi in car number 106 crossed the finish line first with a total time of 12 hours, 58 minutes, and 20 seconds, officially securing the AXCR championship for the second consecutive year with Mitsubishi Triton.
